May 2010 Election

In just a few months, Millions of Filipinos would exercise their right to vote for individual who they see fit to lead the country. There are so many choices and yet Filipinos are still undecided on who to vote for. There is no perfect candidate but Filipinos should not vote for the most popular candidate. This is not a Popularity contest after all.

We should know what they could offer when they are on the position. We should learn more about the candidate. Bear in my mind that who ever is elected would shape the future of the Philippines. The future president would rule the country for six years. So many things could happen in six years.

Most people ask why they should even bother voting. Most people believe that all politicians are the same. Most people do not believe that change is possible. Different politicians have promised the same thing and like any other, they end up breaking them. So why even bother right?

Every vote counts. Even if your candidate ends up losing, at least you voted for whom you believe in. You did your part. You exercise your right. You took a step for change. It too much to ask to have honesty, integrity and leadership skills in one candidate. But I hope we will not end up choosing the lesser evil. I hope that who ever is elected would put the Filipino's interest first before their own personal agenda.

We are among the first country in Asia to gain independence and yet we are still politically immature. Let's not forget the mistakes that we have done in the past. Let's not forget how much these candidates have contributed or what were the mistakes that they have made. I have always hoped that I would live long enough to see a President who deserves the title. I hope to live long enough to see the Philippines prosper.
