Intelligence TV series Pilot review
Josh Holloway known for his role as James "Sawyer" Ford in the hit show Lost is back on the small screen in CBS' new show Intelligence.
Holloway plays Gabriel Vaughn, a high level intelligence operative working for the United States Cyber Command (CyberCom). Gabriel is implanted with a microchip in his brain that allows him to access to global information grid. Marg Helgenberger (CSI Las Vegas) plays Lillian Strand, Vaughn's superior officer and the team director of Cybercom. Strand has assigned secret agent Riley Neal to protect Vaughn. Neal was reluctant at first but eventually agreed to shadow Vaughn to protect the microchip in his head.
In the beginning of the show Dr William Crispin, the man behind the microchip in Vaughn's head was kidnapped. Crispin has made a second microchip without the knowledge of Cybercom . His captors are forcing him to install the chip with one of their colleagues. His first attempt to install the chip seems to have fail. The Chinese woman with the microchip implant has not awoken after the surgery.
Dr. Crispin's captors then decided to capture Gabriel to get the chip on his head and transfer it to their colleague. Gabriel was captured with the help of Amos, the lab technician assigned to Gabriel. Dr Crispin then prepares for the surgery to remove the chip. He was able to cut Gabriel loose and both were able to escape. The episode ended with the second person installed with chip has awoken.
Here are some of the problems with this new show. I would give the show a grade of D for originality. We have seen a lot of the things in Intelligence that we have seen in other shows. The show reminds me of Continuum and Chuck. So far the chip could be use for accessing information, analyze evidence by making a simulation environment. Chuck could also access information using his intersect with added bonus on learning things like martial arts or disarming a bomb. In continuum , Cameron's implants could tell her if a person is lying, anlayze evidence real time and do a lot more.
So far the script is so simple. Vaughn is out to look for his wife. Other countries are interested with the microchip implant and was able to make a second chip work. There is nothing that is so mysterious that would keep viewers interested with the show. Yes there is this thing with his wife and we would have to see if she is really dead or if she really was a traitor but that is it. It offers nothing else base on the first episode.
I would give this new show maybe 3 more episodes before deciding if I would watch it further. The only thing making me watch this show is Holloway and Helgenberger. What are your thoughts on the Intelligence TV series Pilot?
