San Sebastian advances to the finals

The Stags are back in the finals would try they championship title against the undefeated San Beda Red Lions. San Sebastian had to work hard against a stubborn Jose Rizal University to gain the right to San Beda in the finals. It was not an easy win for the Stags. The bombers refused to go down without a fight. But eventually San Sebastian emerged victorious with a score of 61-52.

The first quarter didn’t go smooth for the stags. A three-pointer from Anthony Del Rio awakened the defending champions and ended the halftime with a score of 28-20 favoring San Sebastian. In the third quarter, the bombers rallied and cut down the lead by only 4 points with a score of 38-34 still favoring San Sebastian.

Hayes, Matute and Bulangis provided the much point for the Bombers in the fourth quarter. JRU took a 1 point lead with a 46-45 with less than 5 minutes remaining in the gaming. However JRU got into foul trouble which Stags took advantages by converting their free throws. With only 1 minute and 1 second remaining in the game, San Sebastian’s lead has gone up to 7 points. The last two points of the game was from 2 converted free throws from Erickson Gatchalian.

The Stags could not celebrate just yet as it prepares to defend its championship title against an undefeated Red Lions. The 1st game of the best of series would take place in Araneta Coliseum on October 13.
