Arrow Season 1 Episode 7: Muse of Fire

Don’t read if you have not seen the episode

Moira was taking to Paul Caponi, an associate of mob boss Frank Bertinelli, when Oliver arrived to picked her up for lunch. Moments later an unknown gunman shot Caponi and killed him. Oliver tried to catch the shooter but was unsuccessful.
Later Oliver discovered that Caponi is connected to Frank Bertinelli. He decided to talk meet with Frank to find out more about the shooter. Frank later introduced her daughter Helena and asked them to have dinner together to discuss further their business arrangement.

Later Oliver and Helena found out that they have more in common that they realized. They have the same darkness within them. Oliver had to take a phone call for Deagle and Helena was left inside the Russo Restaurant. Later Frank’s men are terrorizing Mr. Russo and asking for his payment for Frank’s protection.

Caponi’s shooter appeared in the scene and later Oliver has donned the head and helped the shooter in clearing out the bad guys. Oliver broke the helmet of the shooter and he learns that Helena is the person that he is looking for all along.

Further in the episode Frank’s right hand Nick Salvati, kidnapped Helena and Oliver. Nick confessed that her Father ordered killing Helena ’s fiancée, Michael Staton, and Nick was the one who killed him. Angered by what she learned, Helena broke out of her bondage and killed Nick. Oliver was able to get free and help Helena . After killing Nick, Helena told Oliver the same line that he used in the pilot episode: No one can know my secret.

Back in Helena ’s apartment, Oliver was waiting in the living room. Helena told him that it the vigilante comes and go as he pleases. Helena realized that Oliver was the hooded vigilante when she saw him fight. Before the episode was finishes they ended up kissing.

Also in the episode, the well dressed man visited Moira in her home. In the scene it revealed that Moira and the well dressed man are more than colleagues in the secret organization but are close friends. On the Tommy front, his credit card was rejected while paying for the dinner that he and Laurel were having. He later confronted his father about it. His father has cut off Tommy’s inheritance. It is revealed that the well dressed man is Tommy’s father. Also in the episode Walter returns home to Moira.

In this episode, Arrow has introduced another Comic character. Helena Bertinelli is also known as the huntress. But in the comics, the huntress hails from Gotham City and not Starling City . In some of the DC stories, Helena donned the Batgirl costume for while during Batman’s absence. Eventually batman made her give up the outfit as he is about to assign it to another person, Cassandra Cain. She is described as violent and ruthless and her willingness to kill has made her an outcast among her colleagues. I don’t know if that is a good move since comic fan would definitely react differently about it. Let’s see if it pays off.

When they revealed that the well dressed man is Tommy’s father I somehow have an Idea how they will break the Oliver-Tommy friendship up. My theory is that eventually Oliver would go after Tommy’s father as he is a member of the organization. He might end up killing him or would do something that would anger Tommy. Tommy would find out and would seek his revenge. Well that’s just my theory. It’s better that the Love triangle angle. But it also explains why Oliver is keeping his distance from Tommy. Maybe he was preparing himself for the time that he will go after his best friend’s father. It is a relief to know the identity of Tommy’s father. It is way better than calling him the well dressed man. The fight scenes are great in this episode. The appearance of China White simply means we will see her again which is great by the way. I want to see her fight the huntress. What are your thoughts?

Person of interest Season 2 episode 6: The high Road

Reese and Finch got another number which leads them to Graham Wyler. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary but Finch later discovers that the real Graham Wyler is dead and Graham’s real name is Lloyd Pruitt.  Lloyd now lives with his wife Connie and has a daughter named Izzy.  Reese enlisted the help of Zoe Morgan to act as his wife as he moves in to Suburbia to get closer to Graham.
Later Graham’s old friends Chris Vaughn and Daniel Burnside track him down. It is later revealed that Graham was a master safecracker. Graham refused to join Chris and Daniel in the last heist which led to their arrest and was locked up for 12 years. Chris and Daniel blame Graham for their arrest and asked him to join them in their next heist which would allow them to leave the country.  With his family being threatened, Graham eventually agrees to take the job.

Finch was able to find out where the next heist would take place. Their next target is in a high rise residential unit belonging to Enver Clerik a gem dealer who currently out of town. But instead Cleriks nephew Atay throws a party and later would be held hostage to Vaughn’s men. They are setting up Graham to take the fall as they have prepared mask to hide their identity but has not brought enough for witnesses to identify Graham.
Reese had to rappel from a few story up to reached Graham. Eventually with Reese’s help, Graham got a gun and pointed it at Vaughn. Reese was able to convince not to pull the trigger. With the help of Detective Carter, Reese and Graham got a safe passage out of the building. As they were about to leave, Graham decides to turn himself in and stated that he is done running and he would start owning up to his crime. Graham turned state witness and was sentenced to house arrest with a monitor strapped to his ankle.

The Episode also shows flashback of Harold’s old life back in 2004. Harold was talking to his old Colleague Nathan on how he is teaching the machine to distinguish human behaviours. The machine has pointed out a woman painting nearby. Later it is revealed that it is Grace Hendricks. She would soon be Harold’s fiancée. But Harold had to leave and fake his own death to protect Grace. It is still not revealed why the machine picked Grace out of the many people in the park. Maybe in the next episodes we will know more.
This is another great episode for Person of interest. Although aside from the flashbacks, this entirely connected the show’s main villains: HR, Elias, Ruth or the organization keeping the machine. Also the FBI hunting down Reese is not in this episode. Nevertheless I find person of interest one of the best show currently airing.

Merlin Season 5 episode 8: The Hollow Queen

Queen Guinevere Pendragon continues to be under Morgana’s control. Arthur opens his door to King Sarrum of Amata, a ruthless king known to have killed men, women and children during his reign. A mysterious boy Daegal appears in Camelot to seek Merlin’s help to save his sister. He told Merlin that he was a druid and showed a tattoo to convince him. Merlin eventually agrees to help the boy and left Camelot secretly. Later it is revealed that Daegal is in league with Camelot’s worst enemy Morgana. Morgana was able to get the upper hand, poisoned Merlin and left him to die.

Back in Camelot Arthur spars with one of King Sarrum’s men Albin. Albin got the upper hand during the sparring and had Arthur in his mercy. But Sarrum did not have the intention of killing Arthur then. Sarrum admitted that they had Morgana captured and put her and her Dragon in a well. But eventually Morgana escaped.

Gwen talks to Sarrum about assassinating the Arthur and in return she will surrender a portion of Camelot’s lands. Sarrum thought of a better way of gaining control and ordered Albin to kill Arthur and then Gwen after.

During all of this Daegal was guilt driven and decided to save Merlin. Later it was revealed that he was not a druid at all but her mother was like Merlin and possessed Magic. He help Merlin reached Camelot and found Albin about to shoot an arrow to Arthur. Using Magic, Merlin was able to distract Albin but the later retaliated and start throwing knives. Merlin was able to evade the knives and magically threw a spear to Albin and causing an arrow to hit Sarrum instead. Merlin then realized that Daegal was not unscathed and was dying from a knife wound.  He died eventually and was given a proper burial as Arthur has commanded.

In the next episode, Arthur will finally learn that his wife Gwen is under Morgana’s spell. Merlin would try to lift the spell but Morgana would not give up the fight. In the preview, Merlin told Arthur that Modred gave them a chance to escape and advised the later to leave. We have to wait for the next episode what will Arthur do. We all know that eventually Modred will fight Arthur in the battle of Camlann. Is this the episode where Mordred will eventually decide to turn his back against Camelot?

With only a few more episode left in the show, will Merlin gives us proper ending to the show? It is hard to tell what the writers have up their sleeves. Based on the preview, the white dragon Aithusa would appear. I have been reading that the Aithusa and Kilgharrah will have a face off. Aithusa is supposed to be a good omen to Merlin so why are they going to fight if that will really happen. Let’s wait and see how the TV series would end.

Revolution Season 1 Episode 10: Nobody's Fault but Mine

The group has reached Philadelphia . They seek refuge in one of Miles only remaining friend Kip. Miles went searching for Danny and went to look around. While Miles was gone Neville came to arrest Kip, Charlie, Nora and Aaron. Charlie was brought to Monroe leaving Nora and Aaron guarded by Neville. During the interrogation, Neville recognized Aaron as the head of Google and told him that admired his work.

Miles soon realized that his friends were captured and paid Neville’s wife a visit. Miles was able to piss off Neville by first threatening to kill his wife if he didn’t release Nora, Aaron, Charlie and Danny. He was able to release Aaron and Nora but Danny and Charlie is in a power plant somewhere north. After getting their location, Miles lock Neville and his wife Julia in a closet.

In the power plant Charlie and Rachel got reunited. Charlie was not able to handle the idea that his mother was still alive but before Rachel was able to explain his side, Sergeant Will Strausser came to the room and brought them to Danny and Monroe. Monroe ordered Strausser to kill one of Rachel’s children if she fails to cooperate. Eventually she finished the amplifier but later killed Strausser.

Miles and Monroe meet for the first time after Miles tried to kill him. Monroe pleaded for Miles to return to the Militia in exchange for sparing the lives of his friends. Miles declined and told Monroe that he no longer sees him as a family. A sword battle broke out and they were interrupted by Captain Jeremy Baker. Monroe immediately told them to kill Miles and miraculously escaped through a window and evading every single bullet while he was at it.
By the end of the Episode Miles, Charlie, Aaron and Nora were able to rescue Danny and his mom Rachel.  Rachel was able to finish the amplifier and provided Monroe the upper hand against his war with the South as a Helicopter was seen flying with the Gatling gun pointing at Miles and his friends. I wanted to scream “run fools run”. Why the heck are you staring at the helicopter pointing a gatling fun for?

Alright here we go. I have been meaning to write a review about revolution but I have been busy writing about review about other TV series. I have watched all the episode in the series so far and these is what I think. Finally there is a notable acting job in Revolution. In the flash back between Miles and Sebastian, the later is in a cemetery drinking himself to death. David Lyons ( Monroe ) did a great acting job on this episode and I wonder why it took them so long to put this flashback in the series. Sure Elizabeth Mitchell (Rachel Matheson) is a great actress and did some fine acting in the series but Lyons acting in this episode was the only thing memorable in this series in terms of acting. They dig dipper in Miles and Sebastian’s past and really established their friendship which more like brotherhood to me.
I have a few questions about this episode though. First why didn’t Rachel grab the pendant before leaving the room? I know the Captain Baker came right away after Rachel slapped Miles but she could have grabbed the pendant before slapping him. I know this would prolong the story and it wouldn’t be a good fall finale if the power was not back on but come on. Charlie almost sacrificed her life for the pendant; it could take a few seconds only to escape with the pendant.
The death of Strausser was somehow anti-climactic. I thought it would have been better if Miles was able to kill Strausser himself and then again that is how the writers wanted it. About Jeremy Baker, wasn’t it Miles who saved him in the first place? He did not hesitate when they started shooting at Miles. What’s up with that?
We learned that Neville has some sort of complex. He now feels mighty compared to his previous life. By the way, Giancarlo Esposito (Neville) is doing a great job in his acting. He is the type of villain that you want to see dead but is too good in being a villain that it would such a waste to see him leave the show.
Now for the lead actress Tracy Spiridakos playing Charlie Matheson, what can I say? I genuinely hope that during the Hiatus she spends time working on her acting skills because she is one of the reasons that make me want to give up on revolution. Since she is in a lead role, her acting skills or the lack of it is very evident. When she got reunited with Rachel I felt nothing. It wasn’t remarkable. I didn’t know if she was about to cry or was about to get mad. In episode 9 when she got shot and went to meet her dad while she was unconscious, I thought that she was going to cry. Or I think she should have. I could have been a powerful and memorable seen but again I felt nothing. The zombies in walking dead can act more than she does.
But despite all of its flaws and the Hiatus, I will still give revolution a chance. I will wait for the next episode and hope that they do a better job in the upcoming episodes. Revolution is set to return on March 25, 2013.
