Revolution Season 1 Episode 10: Nobody's Fault but Mine

The group has reached Philadelphia . They seek refuge in one of Miles only remaining friend Kip. Miles went searching for Danny and went to look around. While Miles was gone Neville came to arrest Kip, Charlie, Nora and Aaron. Charlie was brought to Monroe leaving Nora and Aaron guarded by Neville. During the interrogation, Neville recognized Aaron as the head of Google and told him that admired his work.

Miles soon realized that his friends were captured and paid Neville’s wife a visit. Miles was able to piss off Neville by first threatening to kill his wife if he didn’t release Nora, Aaron, Charlie and Danny. He was able to release Aaron and Nora but Danny and Charlie is in a power plant somewhere north. After getting their location, Miles lock Neville and his wife Julia in a closet.

In the power plant Charlie and Rachel got reunited. Charlie was not able to handle the idea that his mother was still alive but before Rachel was able to explain his side, Sergeant Will Strausser came to the room and brought them to Danny and Monroe. Monroe ordered Strausser to kill one of Rachel’s children if she fails to cooperate. Eventually she finished the amplifier but later killed Strausser.

Miles and Monroe meet for the first time after Miles tried to kill him. Monroe pleaded for Miles to return to the Militia in exchange for sparing the lives of his friends. Miles declined and told Monroe that he no longer sees him as a family. A sword battle broke out and they were interrupted by Captain Jeremy Baker. Monroe immediately told them to kill Miles and miraculously escaped through a window and evading every single bullet while he was at it.
By the end of the Episode Miles, Charlie, Aaron and Nora were able to rescue Danny and his mom Rachel.  Rachel was able to finish the amplifier and provided Monroe the upper hand against his war with the South as a Helicopter was seen flying with the Gatling gun pointing at Miles and his friends. I wanted to scream “run fools run”. Why the heck are you staring at the helicopter pointing a gatling fun for?

Alright here we go. I have been meaning to write a review about revolution but I have been busy writing about review about other TV series. I have watched all the episode in the series so far and these is what I think. Finally there is a notable acting job in Revolution. In the flash back between Miles and Sebastian, the later is in a cemetery drinking himself to death. David Lyons ( Monroe ) did a great acting job on this episode and I wonder why it took them so long to put this flashback in the series. Sure Elizabeth Mitchell (Rachel Matheson) is a great actress and did some fine acting in the series but Lyons acting in this episode was the only thing memorable in this series in terms of acting. They dig dipper in Miles and Sebastian’s past and really established their friendship which more like brotherhood to me.
I have a few questions about this episode though. First why didn’t Rachel grab the pendant before leaving the room? I know the Captain Baker came right away after Rachel slapped Miles but she could have grabbed the pendant before slapping him. I know this would prolong the story and it wouldn’t be a good fall finale if the power was not back on but come on. Charlie almost sacrificed her life for the pendant; it could take a few seconds only to escape with the pendant.
The death of Strausser was somehow anti-climactic. I thought it would have been better if Miles was able to kill Strausser himself and then again that is how the writers wanted it. About Jeremy Baker, wasn’t it Miles who saved him in the first place? He did not hesitate when they started shooting at Miles. What’s up with that?
We learned that Neville has some sort of complex. He now feels mighty compared to his previous life. By the way, Giancarlo Esposito (Neville) is doing a great job in his acting. He is the type of villain that you want to see dead but is too good in being a villain that it would such a waste to see him leave the show.
Now for the lead actress Tracy Spiridakos playing Charlie Matheson, what can I say? I genuinely hope that during the Hiatus she spends time working on her acting skills because she is one of the reasons that make me want to give up on revolution. Since she is in a lead role, her acting skills or the lack of it is very evident. When she got reunited with Rachel I felt nothing. It wasn’t remarkable. I didn’t know if she was about to cry or was about to get mad. In episode 9 when she got shot and went to meet her dad while she was unconscious, I thought that she was going to cry. Or I think she should have. I could have been a powerful and memorable seen but again I felt nothing. The zombies in walking dead can act more than she does.
But despite all of its flaws and the Hiatus, I will still give revolution a chance. I will wait for the next episode and hope that they do a better job in the upcoming episodes. Revolution is set to return on March 25, 2013.
