New Bird Flu Fatality recorded in Indonesia

Indonesia has the highest recorded cases of Bird Flu infections. A total of 163 people were confirmed to be infected with the deadly virus in Indonesia.  Last year, nineteen out of the twenty confirmed cases of Bird Flu infections in Indonesia were fatal.

On Jan 25, a 25 –year-old woman died of Bird Flu in the West Java town of Bekasi. She is suspected to have direct contact with Poultry. According to the Ministry of Health, a 3-year-old Jakarta boy was confirmed to have a H5N1 Bird Flu Virus. The boy has already recovered.

Bird Flu has taken the lives of at least 283 people worldwide since the virus has infected poultry stocks since 2003. Indonesia has a total of 135 deaths due to Bird Flu
