12 Monkeys: Movie versus TV series

The hit movie 12 monkeys starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt is now a TV series. This aint the first movie adaption we have seen. Dominion is based on the movie Legion. Constantine is based on a movie of the same name. Well actually it is not. It is based on a graphic novel.

Back to 12 monkeys. The show is set on a post-apocalyptic world where 7 billion people were wiped out because of a virus. The last chance of humanity is James Cole. He sent back time to try to prevent the outbreak from happening.

So what are the main difference between the movie and the tv show?

1. In movie Kathyn Railly (Madeline Stowe) is a psychiatrist who diagnose Cole and had him admitted to a mental institution. In the tv series she is named Cassandra Railly, a virologist who works for the CDC.

2. Jeffrey Goines (Brad Pitt) is Jennifer Goines in the TV series. Jeffrey is a human rights activist who heads the army of the 12monkeys. His main goal is the let animals loose from the zoo. In the show, Jennifer is a math genuis who knew the location of a secret lab called the night room.

3.  In the show only Cole was able to time travel but in the movie Jose Ramse, Cole's bestfriend, was able to travel as well. But who knows it is early too early to tell.

4. In the movie the army of the 12 monkeys' main goal was to release animals. They were not responsible for the outbreak. In the movie they are more organize. They really intend to use the virus for their agenda.

So far the TV series is great. But you have to wonder how the show will end. Will they follow the movie plot wherein the virus will be eventually released and Cole would get killed?

We would all have to wait and see.
