How your mother met me - How I met your mother season 9 episode 16

This episode is dubbed as one of the best episode in the whole series. I couldn't agree more. Now that the show is about to end, the shows creators are starting to put the final touches in putting all the pieces of the puzzle on how Ted meets his future wife.

The episode tells the story on the mother's perspective. Even the opening credits was modified featuring the mother. On the same day that Marshall proposed to Lily and the day Robin and Ted met, the mother was celebrating her 21st birthday. And get this. There are two Maclaren Pub in New York. The other Maclaren's bar is the mother's watering hole.

On that day, the mother's old boyfriend Max was running late. She received a phone call informing her that Max has passed away. Since then the mother has shove the idea of dating and falling in love believe that every person gets only one chance in love.

Through out the episode, there were references from previous episode that the mother and Ted has crossed path. In fact, the mother knows what Ted looks like. During Ted's first day in teaching , he went to the wrong classroom where the mother is attending an economics class. This is where she meets Cindy (Rachel Bilson) for the first time. Ted tells his shellfish joke and only the mother thought it was funny.

But before going to the economics class, she was inspired by the speech of one of her old acquaintance Mitch. Apparently Mitch and the mother knew each other before both of them came to New York. Mitch is creator of "The Naked man" and has said that it works 2 out of 3 times. Who would have guess that the mother is the one 1 out the 3 woman which the Naked Man doesn't work on?

Remember the Saint Patrick's day event where Ted took the mother's umbrella? We finally see what went down. The mother's friend Kelly ran into Barney. Barney tried picking her up but failed/. The mother was there as well and ran into Mitch. After offering to give Mitch a cello that is left unused, they left the club and went to her apartment. While she was getting the musical instrument in her room, Mitch strips down and showed her his move but was immediately turned down.

After a while of being on a dating Hiatus, she met Louis at and started dating him. She was staying at his Beach house during the wedding weekend. Louis suddenly proposed which caught her off guard. Eventually she turned down the proposal clear still not yet ready to take their relationship to the next level.

She then got a room on the Farhampton Inn next to Ted's. Before the episode ended, She sang a rendition of La vie en rose. Future Ted said that even though he heard her sing it a million times, the first time she heard it sing was his favorite.

In this episode we get to know more about the mother. She has a lot in common with Ted and probably the only one who would laugh at Ted's joke. A thing that I noticed with this episode is that this is the first time that they dealt with death. Correct me if I am wrong if this is the first time. But as far as I know it is.

We also get to fall in love with her and start to root for them. I think one of the biggest challenges that the creators have was finding the right actress to play the mother. I am glad that they choose Cristin Milioti to play the part. She plays the role perfectly. Putting Mitch in the mix is one of the great things about this episode. Next week I hope that they do finally met. But I think they would delayed their meeting until the last remaining episodes.

What are your thoughts about how your mother met me?
